How to Become a Morning Person


I will be the first one to admit that when it comes to mornings I am not the person that you want to have an encounter with. Just ask my Dad and my Husband. They've both ran into "the morning ashlee" and she isn't pleasant. I am woman hear me yell at you because you woke me up to ask a question that shouldn't be asked at 11am. 

Since moving into our new home I have tried to establish a Morning routine that helps me want to get up in the morning and be happy. I also found that having a routine with a 9 month old Puppy helps.

Here are my tips and tricks to Becoming a Morning Person, or atleast having a better morning than you're used to having. I'm talking to you past ashlee, running out the door spilling coffee down your shirt and still forgetting the important papers you were supposed to bring. Yikes!!

1. Allow yourself to wake up before jumping right into your day. 
My mornings usually start off with 15 minutes of waking up and relaxing in my bed. I'm not a snooze kind of person. Once the alarm goes off, I'm up. So I like to have a little relax time before rushing into the business of my day. I usually jump on my phone and check Facebook, Instagram, and twitter. You know, the usual.


2. Wash Your Face. 
I've been washing my face every morning since as long as I could remember. My Dad always says "Splash some cold water on your face and wake up!" So, that's what I did. Washing your face in the morning is not only great for the health of your skin but it helps you feels refreshed and awake. I like using a gentle cleanser in the morning so that I don't disturb my waking skin. 

3. Have some play time with your Pup.
Modi has so much energy in the morning after a full night of sleep. He loves running around while I wash my face and then sits by my side while I prepare his breakfast. I let him outside to go potty and then we usually play fetch or tug-a-war for a few minutes. You're not only spending time with your pet before you leave for the day but you're helping them get out some energy too.#thatfacethough

4. Drink Coffee (or tea)
I'm a zombie if I don't have coffee in the morning. While Modi eats I like to make myself a hot cup of coffee from our Kerig. There is seriously nothing like a hot pot of coffee in the morning. NOTHING!I feel so much more energized with even that first, glorious smell of hot coffee. And once I take that first sip, HELLO WORLD!!

5. Do a Daily Devotional or Read your current Book
I have to start my day with reading the Bible. I have to get my daily devotionals done in the morning because it makes me feel ready to conquer the day. There's also that feeling of Coffee and Jesus in the morning that just makes me want to get up. I just feel alive! If you're not a daily devotional type, find a book to read. I'm currently reading "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert



6. Get your favorite scent flowing throughout the house
I found when I light a candle or turn a scentsy warmer on that my mood automatically changes. I love fresh smelling scents in the morning because it wakes me up and just makes me a much happier person. Garden Party Soy Candle & Scentsy Warmer



7. Do Something that Makes you Happy
For me, that's blogging. I always have to sit down with my cup of coffee and write/read blogs. Sometimes I'm at my laptop longer than other times. But I always have to start my day with blogging. 


8. Get Ready and Get out the Door.
Hope you're in a better mood! I make another cup off coffee and I'm ready to start my day. Oh, and I take pictures because, who doesn't love pictures. #bloggerproblems
